How to Get Vehicle RC Details from a Number Plate
Turn a registration number into a full vehicle profile — owner, maker/model, insurance and fitness validity — with a single API call.
A vehicle's RC (Registration Certificate) holds everything official about it — who owns it, what it is, and whether its insurance and fitness are current. For used-car marketplaces, auto lenders, insurers and fleet platforms, pulling RC details from just the number plate removes the need to ask customers to upload a physical certificate.
What you can get from a number plate
- Registered owner name.
- Maker, model and variant.
- Fuel type (petrol, diesel, CNG, electric).
- Registration date and RC status.
- Insurance validity and fitness/PUC expiry dates.

}Which RC endpoint should you use?
BILAPI offers several tiers. Use RC Lite for a fast core lookup, the RC Verification API for the standard profile, and RC Advance or RC Verification Full when you need the deepest data including financer and complete insurance details. If you only have a chassis number or a mobile number, Chassis to RC and Mobile to RC can locate the vehicle for you.
Common use cases
- Used-car marketplaces validating a listing and auto-filling specs.
- Auto lenders confirming the asset before disbursal.
- Insurers pre-filling a policy quote from the number plate.
- Fleet and logistics platforms tracking insurance and fitness expiry.
