E-Mandate (eNACH) API for Recurring Payments

Set up and manage auto-debit mandates so EMIs, subscriptions and SIPs collect themselves — no manual follow-up.

If you collect recurring payments — loan EMIs, SaaS subscriptions, insurance premiums, SIPs — chasing each debit manually does not scale. An e-mandate (eNACH) lets a customer authorise recurring auto-debit from their bank account once, after which you can collect on schedule through the API.

How the mandate lifecycle works

  • Create a mandate — the customer authorises recurring debit (amount, frequency, validity).
  • Activate — the mandate is registered against the customer's bank account.
  • Debit — you trigger each scheduled installment via the API.
  • Manage — refresh, retry, skip or cancel installments as needed.

Why e-mandates beat manual collection

  • Predictable collections — installments debit automatically on schedule.
  • Lower defaults and follow-up cost — no manual reminders for each cycle.
  • A complete API toolkit — create, refresh, retry, skip, cancel and query mandates.
BILAPI offers a full e-mandate (eNACH) toolkit — create, manage, debit, retry and cancel recurring mandates behind one key.

Good practice

  • Verify the customer's bank account (penny drop) before registering a mandate.
  • Store the mandate reference and authorisation for your records.
  • Handle failed debits with the retry flow rather than re-creating mandates.

Frequently asked questions

What is an e-mandate / eNACH?

An e-mandate (eNACH) is a one-time authorisation a customer gives for recurring auto-debit from their bank account, after which scheduled payments like EMIs or subscriptions can be collected automatically.

What can the e-mandate API do?

It covers the full lifecycle — create, activate, debit installments, refresh, retry, skip and cancel mandates — through the API.

Should I verify the account before creating a mandate?

Yes — verifying the bank account first (for example with penny drop) reduces failed mandate registrations and debits.
